The Nation-Building Army is effective for recruiting youth because it encompasses a wide range of different fields of service including law enforcement, prisons, and the military. Young people who want to serve their country are unable to find enough opportunities outside of those institutions so they take particular interest in joining the Army.
The idea for the establishment of JKT was based on the recommendations of the General Assembly of the Tanganyika African National Union (TANU Youth League), a conference held in Tabora region in 1958 presented by the then General Secretary of TANU Youth League, Mr. Joseph Nyerere, who it is now late.
