UEFA Champions League final 2022

Stade de France, Paris Few cities can claim to have been at the centre of history quite like Paris, which is staging its third UEFA Champions League final in 2022. Roman, English, Prussian and German armies have all laid siege, while kings, queens, communes and emperors have reigned and toppled as history played out within its walls.
A centre of progressive thinking, modern Paris is recognised for its architectural beauty, Baron Haussmann famously carving 12 grand avenues into the city soil, radiating from the Arc de Triomphe, during the 1860s.
Founded on 12 August 1970 with the merger of Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain, local giants Paris Saint-Germain have ruled the domestic scene in recent years, taking their tally of Ligue 1 crowns to nine with seven titles between 2012/13 and 2019/20. They have also emerged as a serious European force, reaching the UEFA Champions League final in 2019/20, though their sole continental honour remains the 1995/96 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup. The club’s women’s team have grown in stature too, finishing UEFA Women’s Champions League runners-up in 2014/15 and 2016/17, and pipping rivals Lyon to clinch their first French title in 2020/21.
